Jack Tramiel, Father of the Commodore 64, dies at 83.
Mr. Tramiel might not have been the same kind of visionary Steve Jobs was or Bill Gates is. Mr. Tramiel was a business man first and foremost and saw his products as business, and that might be the reason why he never gained the name and fame (and dedicated followers) like those other icons of the early days of Silicon Valley did.
But I feel his influence on modern computer history is as significant as Mr. Jobs’ and Mr. Gates’ is. Without Mr. Tramiel’s line of Commodore computers and especially the fantastic Atari ST I wouldn’t be who I am today.
RIP, Mr. Tramiel. I bow before you.

The kind of briefcase I like…
Warning: such a briefcase will tend to induce delays at airport security checks.
